Koolau's house in Kekaha, Kauai. Koolau was a ranch forman for Valdemar Knudsen. He was known as a man who never missed when shooting his rifle.

Of the 128 Hawaiians living in Kalalau in 1893, 26 had Hansen's disease. All except Koolau agreed to be relocated to Molokai.

The place next to Koolau's house where sheriff Louis Stolz died after he was shot twice by Koolau following an attempted arrest.

One of the troop camps in Kalalau. Sent by the provisional goverment, they battled with Koolau for four days. Three soldiers died in the fighting.

During the conflict, many Hawaiian homes were burned by the troops in an attempt to find Koolau.
